James Madison University

The Foundation

The Learning by Giving Foundation's partners with 43 colleges and universities across the country to teach effective giving and distribute grants. The foundation's mission is to provide a platform for students to become thoughtful and effective givers by making real dollar grants to nonprofit organizations in their local communities.

This is JMU's third year partnering with The Learning by Giving Foundation. The first two years were a success. Of all the partnerships, JMU won first place for having the best blog and as a result, the class was given the opportunity to award a third $3,000 dollar grant to a local nonprofit organization.

Who We Are

We are a class of 33 students, from all different majors, working together with the Learning By Giving Foundation to award two $5,000.00 grants to different nonprofit organizations throughout our community in the Shenandoah Valley .

Throughout the semester members of the class will be posting weekly blog updates.
