Kyra Winn
Writing this grant was a large learning experience for me, but it was so worth it. My grant was for the Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community, and the first time my writing partner and I went to visit, I fell in love. I hadn't been to a retirement home in so long, but it was so beautiful! It had amenities that I wouldn't even think about. This includes a hair salon, a library, bank, the cutest café, and a game room. Meeting the residents and speaking to workers only made me want to work harder to get the money that they deserve. The elderly community within itself is one that is forgotten about, and it shouldn't be that way when are elders are the ones responsible for raising the younger generation. Overall, I'm glad I had the opportunity to take the grant writing class. I am so grateful to have this experience within my college career, and I hope to use it in my future career opportunities.
